That forum member(bumblebee) in your first link is actually my sister.
The vx is defiantly a more track focused car than the s2000,also cramped in the cabin and a bit noisey.but if its a wkend car,who cares:-)
Also the heater is the worst heater I've experienced in a car(apparently there's a mod to make it better)
Parts are cheaper, insurance is cheaper than s2000
I've driven my sisters car in different stages of tune-standard car was ok but felt a bit flat at top end.
Stage 2 is defiantly recommended and is where my sister should have stopped(gives the vx's that extra kick to make it exciting on the straights)
Stage 4 makes it very quick, faster than my old 420hp s/c s2000 accelerating upta 110,but then the s would make ground on it(slightly)
Tbh at this stage the car feels a lot faster than it actually is(scary fast)
Apparently there is a few rough ones kicking around so buy with care.

It all gets relative. My 240bhp Westy is pretty much half the weight of a VX220 and it felt completely normal/no longer fast. When taking a passenger, it felt slow.

If you want to have a reliable boosted engine, factor in about a grand for an LEH/VXR block, forged pistons as standard, lower oil pressure than the LET making the turbo's last longer. Internally good for 450bhp...

My sister keeps looking into the LEH engine swap, not sure if she will go through with it though.
