This weeks demo car
I have always liked the Lexus brand and the IS200. I had a '53' plate IS and I loved it except for one thing.... boy did that car have a drink problem. I had a Petrol (no diesel) in the 'old' shape and an automatic as well it would drink well from the green pump. 20 - 22 mpg was all I could muster when driving normally and 25 - 28 on the runs and when it had a tail wind. That was too strong for my pocket and so she went. I loved it though. My S would regularly do 30 - 32 on the same journey and I would get 34+ out of her on a long easy 70 motorway run.
Cockpit is laid out well and all the dials were easy to use. Didn't like the lock-in facility mainly because as a passenger you had to press a button before you could release the handle. I'm sure there is a way of disabling this but couldn't be arsed to find it.
Thanks Ben but it's going back today which is a shame. Fuel economy so far is 49mpg (we got 55+mpg out of the BMW 320ED).
I think though out of all the cars we've tried, this one would make it as far as being parked outside our house as a second car.
Will take photos later and do a write up.

No worries. If you did decide to go for them I can help sort them out.
Loads of dealer customisable options. Turn all sorts of beeps on and off (think seatbelt warnings/reverse warnings etc), auto locks of one type or another (lock if over 20kph, lock if engaging drive on an autobox or unlock if disengaging etc.). Those seem the most popular. Odd that we include all this cr@p but most people want it turning off!

I had one for three years from just before the time that my son was born.It was a very nice, smooth, comfortable car. It came with shocking aftersales follow-ups and ridiculous service costs. My biggest gripe was when I returned it under the agreement. They tried to charge me for every stone chip. Tried, and failed.
Wouldn't think to buy another. Now that "family man" has now reverted to hia former life, I'm on the look out for something with 2 seats that my son and I can enjoy.
