Default Well done Kwik-Fit ...

No. I mean well done Kwik-Fit. Those of you looking for sarcasm, look elsewhere ...

I know they get a lot of stick from people on here, but as I've posted before, I've never had any cause for complaint, indeed quite the opposite.

This morning I took my mother's seven year old Toyota Auris down to get an exhaust noise looked at. Once on the ramp, we could see that the bracket that's fixed to the middle section of the exhaust, and that in turn connects to the hanger, had corroded away. This meant exhaust hung lower and was rattling against a cross member.

Mr Kwik-Fit tack welded a new hanger support on to the pipe and added a few extra washers to the cross member to increase clearance. Result was a (for now) secure exhaust and no noise.

Total cost? No charge ...

This is at least the sixth time my local (Giffnock) Kwik-Fit has done work like this for free - they re-secured mudflaps to the Merc for example - and refused to take any money. If they think this generates goodwill then they're absolutely right as I will certainly give them first dibs on my next tyre requirement.

Whether the Giffnock Kwik-Fit has unusually high standards or an unusually helpful bunch of lads, I don't know, but my experiences certainly don't chime with the invariably negative ones posted on here by others.

As they say ...

Agreed - my wife used to get her exhaust welded at Kwik Fit and must have had this done about 3 or 4 times over the years - never any charge for her either.

My experience with them has always been very good.

Mr Tyre fixed my HKS for me but charged me £20. I thought that was very reasonable given the time taken was about an hour.

Halfords Auto Centres are the new Kwik-Fit cowboys.

I took my S there for its first MOT and as well as failing 3 of the tyres (only 2 of which needed replacing) by "I stuck a screwdriver in the cracks, I shouldn't be able to do that.." method and then failing it also on the handbrake adjustment (the handbrake was fine when I took it there and squeeled like a pig when I left).

Needless to say, I didn't return it for the 'free retest' as the £50 to clean rear brakes to resolve the fabricated handbrake issue seemed like work for works sake. I had it MOT'd a my Honda dealer as part of the service and no mention of a dickie handbrake, just a nice fresh MOT.

HALF PRICE MOT TESTS at Halfords Auto Centres, we'll find any fualt, or make one up and charge you a fortune to get it through the test... erm, no thanks.

also, Good old Anne pulled them up on watchdog following the tyre recycling and 'disposal' regulations that they got wrong, but charged customers anyway.

Our local Kwik-fit guys are also great, too.

Sadly, the manufacturers of pattern exhausts are a bunch of c unts.

Hmm, yeah.

Dave, that tac weld will last about 6-8 weeks before it corrodes completely as any anti rust will have been burnt off.

Time for a call to those afore mentioned c unts i'm afraid

Don't think it's too unusual these days for Kwik Fit.
I've used the local one to press in several bearings when we were racing the Clio - camber of 3.5deg meant it chewed through wheel bearings like they were consumables - about 3 or 4 a season.
I used to take the upright and a new bearing into Kwik Fit and they'd press the old one out and the new one on for nothing - I used to put a fiver into their tea & biscuits fund as a thank you.

They don't fit tyres outside in case it rains, so it must be right.

Luck of the draw with any franchise. I'm sure there's a muppet in one Starbucks somewhere who makes the coffee taste of something...

My last vsit to KF with the BMW 318d ES - for a new rear tyre.
They fitted a run flat.
My car doesnt have run flats - it pulled like feck when on and off the power.
Manager argued that I couldnt 'feel' the difference.

I hope they sacked the twat after I got the regional Manager involved.
When some arrogant twat from KF chases me across the forecourt to try and ball me out it will go one of two ways...
This guy didnt wake up with a crowd around him fortunately.

KF - fantastic. Bunch of cocks.
