Hello all,

I'm in the fun position of looking for a new car. I've looked at what I consider to be a natural progression ie V8 M3, 911 Carrera 2 etc. But then I thought I might go for something a little different, and have started looking for a lightly used XKR. Has anyone got any experience of these cars? I'm wondering if it will be agile and involving enough after coming out of an s2000. And obviously build quality/ big bills worry me slightly.

Anyone have anything helpful to tell me?

Where did you go after the S2000?

Depreciation on an XKR is epic although "lightly used" may offset that slightly

Also consider a Nissan GT-R although from what I hear running costs are not cheap

An Elise with a blower on it.

Can't help with the XKR unfortunately.

I went from the S2000 to a BMW Z4M coupe.

It's a good upgrade.

That would be my choice.
Obliterates the S2000 even on track, have first hand experience.
Maybe even the OP would look at the Z3M too, can be had for £10k.

I see hes looking at saloons though...

I went from my S2000 to an EVO VIII MR FQ300 and now I have a Z4 Coupe (not an M, it's the 3.0si 265bhp version).

So many choices out there tbf - you really just have to have a look around and see what tickles yer fancy.

Sounds as if you have a few quid to spend so the choices are even greater - enjoy the searching

Some ideas:

- M3
- M5
- Z4 M Coupe
- EVO/Subaru
- Vauxhall/Holden V8
- Elise / Exige / Evora
- 350Z / 370Z
- GT-R
- Golf GTi (Edition 30/35) / R32 / R
- Corvette
- Cayman / Cayman S
- 911 of some description
- Audi S3 / RS4

Old topic; because of the driving involvement/low running costs/useability (aside from the grenade engine) there simply IS no S2000 replacement.

There are plenty of faster, more expensive cars to choose from, though.

I wouldn't go with the XKR, my father in law has the soft top and my uncle had the coupe, he chopped it in for a TVR.
They were both a bit like driving a (very fast) water bed.

Like Nick says the running costs of the S are ridiculously cheap, so a significant step up in performance will come a cost - however I've been mulling on this for a while and have come up with a shortish list, before the price of fuel culls fun forever

M3 E90 - wailing V8 Mmmmmm
M5/M6 - V10 500 brake whats not to like
T350 - plastic fantastic
Porsche Boxster Spyder in white - lovely
RS4 - Fast rep?
S5 - cooler fast rep?
Some form of rollerskate, maybe a v8 westie
or a big 4x

Note: this list changes everyday
