If I had to think of a V8 worthy of the S2000 it would be that one.
Strip all the fat off it and slide it in.

I saw a tuned one go on a kit car forum for three grand, nice light gearbox to go with it and there is almost no weight penalty at all.
60kg is a lot of weight at teh front of a car.

And a light weight gearbox, IMHO, is a type 9 (Although a 4 speed type 2 is lighter still) which weight in at a piffling 26kg (With alloy housing).

The engine/gearbox on the S2000 needs to stay where it is and not be moved. Sure, add some bolt-ons and fiddle if you want, but it really doesn't need anything more.

Exactly.

And I distrust DI - until the fouling's properly dealt with.

The Audi engine isn't bad in an A8 or something; it's very similar in many respects to the Acura racing engine.

But this is 90Kg:

RST V8

OK, I'll bite.

How much is one of those.
Because you could get the Hartley V8 too but they are 20 Grand (without import duty).

I could do a Rover/Lexus V8 swap for a couple of thousand and the Audi for not much more.

After all the talk of blown engines I did the sums and it works out cheaper than getting a new F20 put in (doing work yourself).

Also, it might be a lot of weight way out front but it would still be inside the wheel base.
The front rear balance wouldn't be that far off, it just wouldn't rotate as well.

It could be worse, one of my hot rod mates is swapping to a Lexus 3UZ and he said I could have his AMC 6.7l V8 on carbs for the car.
All iron, push rod, that's one hell of a motor.

I hope he was joking.

What, a couple of bag for an old F20C? You'd spend more on that on the FREDs & CNCing the adapters.

OK, the RST will be a lot more set up, but either do the job properly or don't bother.

If you cannot afford an F20, how much to get a J37 shipped over? That engine is a similar length, barely wider & only slightly heavier. It also obviates rebuilding every few months.

Hmmm

Could do K20 too.

I'm not too worried about the explodiness of the engine but the other thing is getting the extra power out of it.

Mow much weight is a big turbo kit/Supercharger?
Does that make the V8 closer in weight?

As far as ancillary costs, I already have an EMS that could run a V8 so I didn't include the FREDS and we have fabricating facilities at work.

Anyway, it's a non issue for me at the moment, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
