My Prius has killer A-pillars; I have missed cars on a couple of occasions in the blind spot they create and one really has to adapt to one's driving style to accommodate the styling (which benefits the aerodynamic performance albeit at the expense of some passive safety).

had a few similar near misses myself - mostly people coming from the right - really unsettling as you think you're driving ok

it's interesting to see how the A pillar trend has developed

based on what I've been driving recently I think it started in the noughties

It's a twatty fad - the 86 has a Cx of around 0.27 and looks like an old fashioned sports car with an upright-ish screen.

The Bristol Fighter is alleged to be around 0.22 and looks like all proper cars should!

Actually, the MATRA-Renault Spacktard that started the TGV thang in the 1980s wasn't that bad, because its glass was flat & pillars slender.

Since it costs more than a few hunderd gallons of squirt to repair a bent car, it is the very definition of false pseudo-economy.

The Bristol fighter is an ugly piece of shit that put a crappy out of date company out of business, and I wouldn't believe any of their claims

The problem isn't drag it's ncap ratings etc, huge pillars for strength add to that current styling ques and cars end up with dangerous blind spots
