It's a twatty fad - the 86 has a Cx of around 0.27 and looks like an old fashioned sports car with an upright-ish screen.
The Bristol Fighter is alleged to be around 0.22 and looks like all proper cars should!
Actually, the MATRA-Renault Spacktard that started the TGV thang in the 1980s wasn't that bad, because its glass was flat & pillars slender.
Since it costs more than a few hunderd gallons of squirt to repair a bent car, it is the very definition of false pseudo-economy.

The problem isn't drag it's ncap ratings etc, huge pillars for strength add to that current styling ques and cars end up with dangerous blind spots
