I've spotted an s4. Seeing if I can get it into my price range.

I have a 2004 Focus 1.6 3 door, just swapped jobs and lost company car so had to buy a banger. I bloody love it, I do 1500 miles a month in it, 40+ mpg in comfort, (all year round beater) and I have to say it is near mint with 43k on the clock, in fact I'm trying not to treat it as good as I do the S and get all precious over it.

Yeah, it's difficult to neglect a beater, sometimes.

Nick, I couldn't consider your Legend as beater. It's one of the cars I'm dreaming about. They did cost more than €70k in Finland, around the same as an S2000! My EE5 can be called as beater even if it's rare as hen's teeth. The sorry state of the bodywork justifies the beater status. I've actually washed it once but may not bother doing it another time. I'm worried that there won't be enough metal left for another wash .

Saw a b6 s4 today. Was great until I saw the front arches. Tin worm.

Decided to up the budget and lower the age. Haven't done rust for 20 years. Don't fancy starting that game now
