Hows the economy in the longer term?

And do you think the cost is justified over a newer E92 M3 ?

The economy is getting worse simply because the way I'm driving it is changing but it's still averaging around 24mpg which I think is stunning for the performance available

Do you mean the cost under an E92?

The M3 is very much an 'engine car' in my opinion and I'd have a V8 over a straight 6 any day of the week. The main reason I went for an E46 is purchase price.

You're talking about a £10k difference and that would push me into PCP territory. It's not something I'd like to get into, especially for something which is quite far down my list of priorities.

If I've still got the same set up when E92s get to around the same price I could see myself buying one but I've got a feeling I'll be looking to step up the racing budget by then.

Holy Cow.

Lots of people unloading these now.

And buying other things.

This forum used to have a fair bit more interest in other marques but of late has become very insular unfortuantely.

I agree.

Puzzling, but funny.

Ok Graham, better than expected then. thanks for the info.

I was just noting a few of the E92 M3 for £34k or so too.
For some reason I thought the CSL was more expensive, so I wasnt referring to a six pot (have one here) sorry for confusion.

Just thinking I might bag one (E92 M3) in a couple of years time too.
It's a private purchase for me (have a CC), and I think as a family wagon I might even wait longer and go E90 M3.

All in the air really, if I swap jobs then I might lose the company banger anyhow.

Glad you're loving it.

Unless you bought into another rag top of course

I have developed a love of drag racing for some reason...

Cheers,
Steve.

It's the 'CS' I've got not the 'CSL' so didn't pay that sort of money.

It should be called a 'C' really, it's certainly not two thirds of a CSL

Not quite drag racing but I'm overtaking a lot more than I used too.

Ah, sorry Mr G.

I was wondering where you found said bargain, and with some jealousy!

All understood now

Aha! I knew it was a CS.

Graham, get the bootlid and front bumper from a CSL, then paint the roof black and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Even most drivers.

But overtaking really is the M3's party piece

That's like putting an M badge on a lesser model? I see lots of those, and always point and laugh at them

CS should get it's own respect amongst those in the know, and I still think you will hold a lot of vlaue in the car Graham.

I'll be leaving it as is but I am quite tempted to change the chrome grills for chavvy black carbon ones - must resist

It seems to get a lot of attention from other M3 drivers, not sure if it's just the colour or they've clocked what it is.
