Yawn - another E46 M3 thread
They certainly don't like being overtaken.
I'm probably doing it a lot more than I used to but I'm sure the nondescript Legacy didn't upset people like this one seems to.

I don't think i've ever driven more complete car's than M cars from BMW. The way that they excel across a broad spectrum of driving is incredible. Every car i've driven since the E92 has been frankly a bit crap compared the M. Maserati GT great when your dawdling along, up the pace and it falls to pieces, just where the M was coming alive. 911 probably about the same above 8/10ths but nowhere near as comfy when ambling along.
When I first got the M I thought I would miss the 'true' sports car experience of roof down, and two seats. But I didn't miss it at all. In fact I was often amazed how big the car was because it felt like it was a caterham most of the time.
No other car does the blend so well.
I am very drawn to an E46 CSL. I think the e46 is absolutely timeless, and everytime I see one of late it looks better and better each time. The stance of the E46 is reminiscent of the 993 911 with the body making a poor job of stretching over the mechanicals - something the E9x lost to it's detriment.
It's finding one that's not been abused that's an issue.
Given how fantastic the E92 M3 was I will definitely be getting another M car in the future and I miss it already. I was hoping the 1 series M would be a possibility, but I just can't get my head around a turbo M car.
Glad your enjoying your car! Sounds awesome

I regularly park next to a slightly younger RS4 in the office car park and whilst mine doesn't look newer, it somehow makes the Audi look dated.

Zafira and other pos owners seem particularly vexed by M cars
Out for a potter to Weston earlier and a Zafira VXR (never knew they wasted a decent engine on one of these) tried to out drag me from a roll.
I only wanted to pass the bloody thing in case bits fell off or a fag end came out.
It was reasonably rapid, but equally as ugly.
As were the upset family inside.
I hate having to switch lanes just to smile at idiots.
The change in weather is making things interesting
I'm now really appreciating just how stiff the car is.
Next to zero body roll is all well and good in the dry but it's a different matter when the roads are constantly wet.
It's all very predictable and controllable but at anything but the slowest speeds there's a level of concentration needed that I've not been used to since my S2000 days (on the road that is).
The Germans might be clever, but they're not miracle workers.

Had my best drive yet yesterday.
It was the usual fun drive to my brothers to work on the other money pit.
Lots of long straights with plenty of overtaking opportunities, big, empty roundabouts
Damp greasy roads that mean everything happens at much lower speeds and the car comes to life without cornering speeds that would put me prison.
DSC off, sport mode on, gearbox in S6 - heaven.
It certainly eases the pain of the £260 odd I had too spend on a new rear tyre because of an unrepairable puncture
