Gosh, some of us have had embarrassing cars!

Here I go - judge how you will. I'll also explain the car names too.

1995-2000 G reg Renault 5. Was bought for me by mum when I was 17 and lasted me through to the end of uni. Although was 1.1, had to be black as I wanted the effect of the extensive plastic bumpers to be minimised as much as possible. Crikey I remember putting blackener effect on those bumpers after washing him so many times! Was called Stimpy after 'Ren and Stimpy'. I was gutted when I sold him for the price of a dishwasher (about £250 at the time)

2000 - 2001 F reg Pug 205 GTI 1.9. Bought from the boyfriend (who is now my hubby), despite having called it Christine for how much pain it put him through due to repair bills, plus it was red. I promptly wrote it off after 3 months of ownership. I guess going from a one litre to pretty much two was too much!

2001 -2001 K reg VW Golf Mk 1 GTI Sportline. My dream car; black, black BBS, black and red Reccaros. Then it was stolen to order 5 months later - winched off the drive, despite 2 immobilisers and an alarm system linked up to 4 Bentley hooters, I kid you not). My 5 yrs NCB vanished that year, and I struggled to get it back ever since. That car was called 'Spuggie' after the number plate, SPG, and a character in Byker Grove I think!

2001 - 2003 P reg Renault Clio 1.4S Maxim. This was a compromise of the quickest car I could get insured on reasonably. Was fairly reliable and looked ok, but my heart wasn't in it. I was very bitter about having no NCB! Called Polar due to 'OLA' in the numberplate. Kind of a contrast with the black paint though! Passed on to my brother who drove it till it died (didn't take much...)

2005 - 2008 P reg Audi 80 Coupe 2.0. Had saved up £3k and needed to get a car due to job move from London to just 20 mins down the road. Had always liked the looks of them and wanted something different. Beautiful light green metallic and cream leather interior. Very slow, but felt luxurious to me and the handling was pretty good. Heavy as a tank engine, so called 'Thomas'. Part exchanged with pain and joy in my heart for the S.

2008 - 2010 05reg S2000. Ultimate car of my dreams, finally had enough money to buy one, and didn't regret it. Called Kitt in homage to the black paintwork, and yes, KnightRider!

2010 - present R reg 316 Compact. Purchase of necessity while we save for a house / kids and also something my mum who has been in poor health, can get in and out of easily. Such a good buy as we've done 6k in it since August and the only thing which has gone wrong is a sticky caliper. Only got 76k on the clock at the moment and no rust, so we'll probably keep it for a while as we haven't got much to lose! Oh, called Henry because he's quite tank like too and I see him in a similar way to Thomas - well preserved classy old gents.
