Another Charleston Thread, sorry
Hello everyone,
I just scrolled down to this forum and noticed there were already a lot of Charleston threads so sorry for another one but I just had a few quick questions. I will be flying down there in a few weeks for a job interview which I am pretty serious about, the only thing wrong is that I don't think it pays very much starting out anyway. So I guess my questions are: How hard would it be to live in Charleston with a somewhat small budget, let's just say less than 30k a year. That is just a range, I actually don't know the exact numbers yet. Also, how do you guys like it? I've never been there but it looks beautiful. I only drive my S 5-6 months out of the year because of all the snow here but down there it looks like a whole different story, haha. Well, any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I moved down from Omaha courtesy of the Navy. The roads back home were a lot more fun, theres a lot more cops down here than the Midwest, it rains all the time, the Humidity here in the summer is horrid (KS and NE humidity didnt have shit on this). But there are some amazing restaraunts down here, the Scenic areas are awesome, and there is a lot of things to see.
Mountains are supposed to have some great roads, but i havent had a chance to really go play.
All in all, its a beautiful place, but i prefer the Midwest.

Yeah I have a feeling I will really miss the midwest too, that is, if I even do end up moving there. I love it here in the Black Hills of South Dakota but just wouldn't mind trying something new for a bit.

I have to agree with Navy. The summers can be brutal with the heat and humidity. The fall and spring ire great for driving with the top down. If you looking for twisties you will have to visit the upstate but the low country has some really nice scenic routes. The city is gorgeous. Very southern as I'm sure you know. The nightlife is good especially if you are in your 20s. Cost of living can be high. Making less than 30k you will probably be limited to living away from downtown or having a roomate. I start my employees out at around 30K and most of them live in North Charleston, Goose Creek, or Summerville.
Excellent, thanks for the replies guys, really appreciate it. I will be coming down in a few weeks to check it out and as long as everything goes good I will be moving down there. We'll see I guess.
