Default Any local opinions on tyres?

I noticed quite a few were running the Kumhos at the Zaino meet, but I was just getting into the tyre hunt at the time.
Just wondering if any of you are running the Ecsta MX's and any pros/cons on them.
Also....has anyone used Discount Tire here in Charlotte?
Thanks

The MX's are not available in the stock sizes. Also, remember -- if you're not going with the OEM s02's, then you need a 245/45/R16 for the rear. Still 205/55/R16 for the front.

Hmm....Kumho needs to update their website then. I got this when I clicked through 2002/Honda/S2000/Standard Rear:
ECSTA MX 225/50R16 92Y BSW 6.0 - 8.0 25.1 8.5 220/AA/A 25.7
Here's the Link
Of course, I'm not really up on tire nomenclature. Just assumed it was right since Tire Rack.com gave the same info on the Standard Rear (225/50-16)
If their not available, I may end up sticking with the S02s

While the stock rear tire says 225 width, it is actually closer to a 245. Check it out in the tire forum.

I found that calling Jim at Tire Rack very valuable because he is knowledgable and has access to side by side test data.

What he said.... I emailed Kumho earlier this week asking if they plan to produce a 245/45/R16 MX, and I was told that they will be expanding the MX line later this year (Oct-Nov timeframe). Nothing specific about that size, though.

I ordered my first set of S02's from Tire Rack, and they drop shipped them directly to the dealership for me (Hendrick Honda). However, I found out later that Hendrick just sends all their tire mounting work down the road to Discount Tire on South Blvd, so I called Discount Tire to ask if I could have my 2nd set (all 4 this time) shipped there for mounting. (Save the dealership markup!) The guy at Discount asked me why didn't I just buy them from him, and he would match Tire Rack's price (including the shipping cost), which he did. He got them in 3 days. I was very pleased. Might be worth a phone call.

I've got the Ecsta MX's and like them alot!
Jim at Tire Rack is da MAN!

I also had the alignment changed to get longer tread life. It makes a noticable difference in the twisties but not enough that it embarreses me.

Alan....ive got the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 shod on all 4 corners. i love them. great look, great wet traction, comparable to S03 dry traction (which is very good....maybe not quite as good as S02), longer treadwear (280 vs 220 for S03 and 140 for S02), i went up from 16s to 17s and although have less treadwall it gives a MUCH smoother ride, doesnt follow ruts in the pavement (HUGE difference here!!).... they give a bit of audible feedback at the limit which neither bridgestone did (prolly cos its a harder compound)...oh and they were a lot cheaper! not on the order of Kumho Mx but still less than either Bridgestone offering.

so yeah, i like em....and what better tire than the F1 to match your license plate and wind diffuser?

if you wanna take my car out and drive them for yourself just ask... you know where i work!!!

ps....rates are REEEEEAALLY low right now!!!
