anyone got good soldering experience?
Hey gang,
Do any of you guys have good soldering skills? I have a little bit i just lack confidence to solder my own stuff..
My vortech ESM is currently crimped into my ECU now but i think a solder would be more solid and prevent any dreaded CEL lights.
So if any of you guys did this before or would like to help me especially those who moded ps3 before by soldering
"great skills required!!!"
I would provide any beverages including alcholic or whatnot
regards,
TOm

For low current connections, like an ECU, good crimping can work just fine. Did you crimp with real crimp connectors (the barrel type, called a "butt splice") and a crimping tool, or are you talking about the snap-closure connectors (called a "tap splice) sold at AutoZone?
If you used a real crimp connection, no need to solder it. Soldering just stiffens the wires and can lead to fatigue failures. All your factory connectors are crimped.
My $0.02.

Maybe this Y Connector could replace the wire taps? These are for 14-16 ga wire. Would need some heat shrink on the junction area.
