Sorry to hear about your Honda woes, I have a torque wrench also and a set of sockets if you need them. Good luck, keep us posted with your job search and S.

Dang, my rear hubs are making a popping noise also! I don't hear a creaking noise or anything just the "POP" when I have been sitting for a while then move. I hope this is not a lead up to the problems you are having!!

You could re-torque your spindle nuts and also drain your differential through a strainer and look for particles in the fluid. If your diff has failed there should be some contaminants in the fluid. If you were closer I'd be glad to help.

Drain the fluid and look for metal bits first.

Maniac, mine does the same popping/creaking thing on occasion after its been sitting awhile too... Not too noticeable though, but I do hear it from time to time...
Might need to check into retorquing mine to 220...

After reading about what Mike has been going through it has me wondering! since I drive mine daily I hear it a couple times a day. I most of the time hear it when I leave to go to lunch and my car has been sitting there for 3-4 hours.

I just started a similiar post a week ago. I had the spindle problem and took it to Acura (where I purchased the car) and they said it would cost $292.00. I even told them what to do and they wouldn't do it. I took it to Honda and they were going to charge me over $500.00 to fix it! Even after I told them what was the problem.

Long story short

I fixed the problem in 10 min. for $10.00!!!

Bought 2 new lugs at the Honda parts dept. for $10. Went to a mechanic that goes to my Dad's church and 10 min. later.... fixed!

So you bought new hub nuts? And then replaced the old one's and torqued them to the specified ftlbs. I think I might try that.
