Your right. I don't know what diagram I was looking at, but it had a control module for some reason. A switch and relay make sense. The holder is welded in on some earlier model consoles. You have to grind the plastic rivet head off and attach your part.

Hradtop Guy AP1 kit

This shows "everything you need". I don't see the control boxes, so maybe their actually in the car right now and I didn't see them. You can see the switch frame. It is plastic welded in and will involve cutting and gluing/plastic welding to replace.
Thanks guys. I asked for and paid Hardtop Guy for a complete hard top and working defrost. I do not recall a $599 kit to make it actually work... :-( I think I paid an extra couple hundred for the window with defrost and likely he did not come down from Cleveland OH with the right parts.

I have the switch and blank next to it installed that replaced the small coin holder. Since I only watched and did not help, I can only guess he did not bring the relay or other part of the kit. Jeff said something that it would only need a different cable from the top to the connecter.

JJ - best way to get in contact with Jeff is via telephone. I am betting he'll make it right.
