This thread was the straw that broke the camels back for me to go out and finally get an alarm system installed. Right now, Best Buy has the 0% financing for up to 18 months on purchases over $250. A $400 alarm would work on our cars and you could pay it off in 18 months with payments lower than $23 a month (or $40/month for a reaallllly nice one). For those on the fence, it's a great option.

glad to hear you're going to protect your baby. i'd seriously look at swapping the seat bolts with proper seat locks or putting allen bolts in their place (with loctite on the threads and rubber cement in the key heads). of course someone could still get them out but it would be a SERIOUS pain in the ass and take much longer than they anticipated. that's of course assuming they get past your new alarm! be sure to get the battery backup!

Shotgun +7 shells. Alternating buck and slug. Excessive? Yes.
I'm assuming one in the chamber? My 870 is only capable of 6+1 cause of the 18" barrel. All 00 buck though.

Oh yeah, I got the battery back up. I also have a little piezo siren pointed right at where the thief would have to be to get at the brain. The remote start option my alarm has is nice too

how long did it take to do the install; if you dont mind me asking?

also for extra security, i'm replacing the seat bolts. at Home Depot i was only able to find replacements for the 12mm front bolts and i'm replacing them (at least for the time being) with allen bolts and once installed i'll glue a smaller nut in the key head and maybe even fill in with rubber cement. ultimately however, i'd like to do something a little extra but i'm keeping that to myself for now

The install took about 7 hours lol but I've got the 6 point cage in the car so he had to uninstall part of that before he could begin.

Nope. Unless you want to hide the system's brain behind the seats, I'd go ahead and bolt yours down for good.

Well talk to your insurance company and the shop and have them install some bride seats or what not at half the price!! I have USAA and I got them to install some aftermarket parts in my EVO 8 after and Accident as they cost 30% less than OEM parts!!
