You made it through a weekend at CMP and the brakes look to be in good shape? You're not trying hard enough!
Much of it is personal preference. I moved away from Carbotech brakes since I was seeing large chunks taken out of the friction material before the pad actually wore out. I have much better luck with Hawk DCT70/DTC60. I do really like the Cobalt XR1/XR3 combo as well, but that's more expensive. Plus the Hawk contingency I get from racing helps pay for consumables.

Yeah I was thinking about going Cobalts, but I got these carbotechs for next to nothing. For what I paid, I couldnt NOT use them. I did pull 1.4G braking on the first day, which I thought was pretty impressive. The 2nd day I was able to compress my braking zones a lot more, and with a lot of room for improvement too.
