The new CTS is quite nice...

I've heard a lot of bad things about volvo realiability lately. Nothing I can substansiate, but it came from several people in the car business.

I can substansiate. I owned a V70 for 5 years. The final nail was the now well known ETM module issue that causes the car to lose all power and go into "limp home" mode. This happened to my wife while she was driving it on a very busy highway. We ended up having to get it towed as it max speed was 20mph.

Needless to say Volvo did sweet FA for many years on this known issue until the
NHTSA forced them to do a recall. This was after our car had already had the failure.

The +1 considered the BMW sedan when he traded in his BMW convertible (needed a bigger back seat for the kids). He test drove quite a few different models, but went with the Lexus ES350. Nice car. No one likes that one, huh?

BTW, Raul - I'm going to be in Kinston/New Bern next weekend (Sept 15-16). Will you and Anna be back there? If not, we'll see you at FCT in Oct. Good luck on your job sitch. The same thing happened to my +1. About five months after he took a job, his company was bought out. Promises made by the old company were not honored by the new. He hasn't been too happy since, and is looking. He's being actively recruited by a company he's very interested in. So we are hopeful...

Sorry, but I think the Lexus ES is a glorified Camry and is mind numbing to drive - might as well look at a Buick LaCross. There are much more engaging cars out there for the money imo. Thinking of Lexus, the GS is decent, and the IS is probably worth a look - I haven't been in the new IS yet.

On a Lexus-like note, the new 6 is coming out - looks Lexus like, looks good.
