John,
I thought about you this morning when I drove past Sylva...around 5:15AM !
I was a pleasure meeting you...hopefully you will be able to join us for further adventures.
OK...here are a representative cross section of pics...
I woke up early Sunday morning and nobody else was stirring...so I thought I would take a spin up 28...and wound up going all the way through the Dragon...blowing off lots of leaves...in both directions. It was nice...I was almost the only vehicle out that early !!!

Excellent shots, Steve! As always. You always make us look good.
We're home, safe and sound. We discovered where all the cops have gone now that they're not on the Dragon. Apparently, 321 has gotten a grant for speed enforcement. We lost count of the state troopers in both marked and unmarked cars we saw between I40 and I85. All running radar and many with blue lights flashing. Take care if you're headed that way anytime soon.
Great McDragon (don't edit my post this time Airgate!). Not as many friends but more driving than usual under clear blue skies. Still some fall colors and Raul's nemesis at Deal's Gap was on vacation.
So Erin and I were in the smoky's all weekend hauling 40 pounds worth of gear each up and down mountains and having a pretty rough time of it what with the sub-freezing temperatures and steep slopes. We finally got back to the car this afternoon and were headed back east on I40. Being dead tired I decided to take a nap in the passenger seat and was having a good time with it until Erin shook me awake and said "hey, you know those people!" When I finally figured out what was going on I saw that Ron was just passing us with Sheila right behind. I would have waved but not being in the S (we wouldn't have been able to fit even one of the packs) I didn't think they would recognize us so I went back to sleep. Anyway, hope you all had fun!
