Default FS: 2004 Sebring S2000

Hey guys,

Still torn about this, but I'm thinking about selling the S.

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/931...ing-s2000-63k/

Looking for something a little more livable everyday. In a perfect world I would own both the S and a good daily driver.

I don't think it will be the last s2000 I ever own though. I would still love to turn one into a track toy someday. Not ready to strip out or cut up the interior of this one though.

Any advice? Anyone who has sold there S and regrets it?

Main thing I'm looking for in a new car is more technology (keyless start, navigation, better stereo), more room, quieter on the highway, more power, etc. I know that whatever I get the transmission and handling won't even compare. It's a sacrifice I'm still debating. So far have test driven an 08 m3 and 2012 mustang. Still want to test drive a new sti, 09-11 335i, and 09-11 135i. Any other recommendations? Am I making a huge mistake!?

I would say buy a DD beater and keep it but that won't help your problem if you want all of those things. You would have basic transportation and the S. I have a VW Passat for everyday and the S, the VW is OKAY basically a base A4. It starts every day and handles okay for what it is but would not even come close to the list you have.

The S isn't for everyone, especially as a DD.

What ever you decide to do or drive you are always welcome to come and hangout. Pretty sure you would not find a better group to hang around then this one .

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Kevin. It's definitely not an easy decision.

Also I'm assuming this "Pretty sure you would find a better group to hang around then this one ." is a typo or sarcasm, because that is one of the things I hate about getting another car is 'leaving' this community because I honestly think it's one of the best out there. Pretty sure whatever car I get people won't be waving back when I pass by them....probably just be a bunch of housewives....not that there's anything wrong with that

Sorry I left out the "not" in that sentence, fingers got ahead of my brain.

Pretty sure you would NOT find a better group to hang around then this one.

Days like this would make it hard to sell......a little Beaverdam Rd and perfect weather.

Chris, what?!?! You know you would rather enjoy driving during your commute than fuss over options like those I'm planning on holding onto the S until (future) family requirements dictate otherwise. I can't argue with any of the cars you have chosen to look into, but I would tend to agree with Kevin. Plus, for the price differential between what you would sell the S for and what you'd spend on any of the vehicles listed, you could have a slightly older TL or something along those lines with your preferred options and keep the S. Just some food for thought. Another point to think about is the fact that any of the cars you listed will drop in value like a stone compared to the S. I was talking to Lazy_S2k the other day about how both of our cars have increased slightly in value on KBB recently despite increased mileage. I would have to assume that yours is the same, whereas a 2008 M3 or the like is going to, after around a 15% drop in value after the first year, continue to depreciate at a rate of around 10% of current value every year. It wasn't so long ago that the now-$22k E46 M3s were going for close to $40k. I would rather buy an older car with the depreciation hit taken and blow the extra money on track time with my S2000

Chris, we urge you to strongly reconsider! I've seen the way you handle your S and I think a week later you will surely miss it.
I bought a Civic coupe beater for under $2500 to DD and use on bad days. I spend less than $500 a year on it for maintenance and other lil things that come up, and have plenty of money left over to save AND get an occasional new toy or so.

Howabouts waiting a couple of months for it to get warmer, which will give you time to really ponder the other options out there AND get a little extra when the demand increases?

Well it's a sad day. My car is now sold Went to a good guy in Raleigh who I think will really appreciate it. Told him to come out to the Cars and Coffee and meet everyone.

Going to pick up the new car tomorrow. 2010 BMW 335i. Definitely bittersweet. I'll post pictures after I go pick it up.
