Joining in on the discussion a little late, but I think you should have to have a credit check before you have kids. If you can't afford to raise them, don't expect everyone to pitch in just to raise kids these people can't afford to feed.

BTW, I used to vote, but the older I get, the more I realize these aholes we send to Washington are gonna do whatever they want. And it doesn't matter weather you're Republica, Democrat, Independant or whatever. I think they are ALL a bunch of crooks. Especially the career politicians.

D*mn it, Phil. I wasn't going to post to this thread again.

I've just got to ask one question, though.

Is your position that we are _not_ currently the victim of "socio-economic engineering?"

rajun,

Good point. I think prospective parents should have to complete intensive training in being responsible.

Pass-fail basis only. No points for showing up.

HAH! I knew I'd get you fired up. Kalan can't be far behind.

We are DEFINATELY being stolen from for the sake of economic redistribution. However, this is where it gets tricky, good things usually come from it. Its when redistribution is done to empower certain members of government (DEMOCRATS) and enslave the lower class making them dependent upon the hand that feeds them that it becomes bad.

I believe in the ultimate worth of every human being. I work to empower the disadvantaged to realize their hopes, ambitions and dreams. For this reason, if no other, I relate to the Republican Party. The Democratic party has historically done the opposite.

Phil,

So basically we agree that we don't like it but disagree about what is being done to us. Redistribution like the tax cuts being given to oil companies making record profits?

I'm not fired up. Remember my old quote, "I used to be disgusted, now I'm just amused." It's so easy to dehumanize the opposition and start calling names, posting funny pictures, accusing them of positions that they don't hold. Understand, I'm talking about both sides here. Although, in recent years it seems to be a Republican trick to value the "ultimate worth" of Democratic human beings by trying to trick or scare them away from the polls.

We are all Americans and we have serious issues to deal with in this world. Artificially dividing ourselves into two arbitrary teams and acting like it's a sporting event weakens us in relation to the rest of the world. This has been Karl Rove
