The official S2k's to CMP thread.
Thanks Raul. I think most of the problem stems from the R compounds and just the fact that CMP is hard on brakes. With the RA-1's on I can pretty much apply full pressure to the brake pedal at over 100 MPH without kicking in the ABS. While the brake system may be able to handle that, I don't think it was designed to do that all day long.
I've also got some work to do on how I brake. Like most drivers I started off easy on. After M School my braking was from none to full. Once I started working with instructors out at CMP I realized that this was too aggressive, I kept upsetting the balance of the car. I've been working on trying to do a smoother, gentler rolling onto the brakes in a manner that still gets me to full braking late but without upsetting the balance of the car (and giving my instructor/passenger wiplash). In trying to find this middle ground I think I may be rolling on too early and too gently with the same hard braking at the end. This likely causes the brakes to get even hotter as I've increased the time under heat and decreased the time under cooling without significantly decreasing how hard I'm braking.
Who knows. It's a lot of speculation but hopefully making all the changes will correct the problem(s).

Well guys, what do you know. I will be going to CMP on April 23. I know that date was not in the original "schedule", but it will be my only chance of going there in the next few months. I know that it being on a thursday makes it hard for other people to go, but if anyone can make it I won't be the only S owner there, all by myself.

No takers?
On a side note, It looks like my schedule is going to change a bit. My trip to Watkins Glenn is likely going to move to labor day weekend. So I'm planning on heading to CMP again in May. Right now I'm leaning towards May 15th.

I can't make it that day. The +1 and I are heading to Florida to celebrate our 5 year anniversery. Enjoy the day at the track. Hopefully you'll get plenty of seat time seeing it's a weekday.

I hope to be able to get some car fun late summer.
hey I will be at the NASA date next weekend running HPDE3 and maybe time trials
My cars stock I've never had a problem with rollbar at CMP - with NASA or turnone.
NASA told me the broomstick rule applies at CMP but no-one ever broomsticked me.
At Roebling the other day I was told I could run with the top down as long as I didn't have a harness. Something to do with if the car rolls over the stock belt tightens and pulls you under the hoops or something.
Who knows I just try to avoid tracks that enforce silly rules and keep the car the right way up :o))

BUMP
My day at CMP was fantastic. There were only 9 cars in my run group and I got signed off for solo. The track is very nice and the Turn1 crew was fantastic. I will definitely go again sometime this year, probably arround august or September.
