so I look out my passenger window 2 days ago and something catches my eye....
its a spec of sunlight (Capital F!!)
Once I got home I took a closer look at it to see the damage. There is a rub spot that has rubbed through the soft top.
So today I took it to the Honda dealer here in Sumter and had a guy look at it. He had me take the top up and down 3 times.......which in turn made the hole twice as big. On top of that he tells me "I'm going to have to get back in touch with you when my warranty guy comes back in, I do not know when he will be here though. He is the one who determines whether we cover this or not."
I bought this car in Sept as a certified used and paid an extra $1200 for extended warranty.
Any advice anyone can give me?

I have taken my S2000 to the Honda dealership for the seal around the window. They proceeded to do more damage than I originally had including breaking the windshield. After many man hours and much money, they asked me to come get my car and it looked great and was covered under warranty with no problem. Honda is pretty good about covering their cars when under warranty.
I had the top replaced twice under warranty on my 06. The dealer that did it was not even the one where the car was purchased. My experience with them was also very good. Hope yours is too.

Dealerships often get scrutinized for their warranty expense. The manufacturer monitors those numbers to be sure dealerships arent giving things away, submitting claims when items are broken (not defective), etc. So if you dont have luck with one dealer, chances are they are trying to avoid an audit due to a high warranty expense. Try another dealer. Usually the slower dealers with less business will be more likely to perform the work because they need the business. Dealers do make money on warranty work, despite the misconception that they do not. A convertible top replacement is a faily expensive claim, so keep that in mind if it is rejected and try again elsewhere.

I haven't had any issues with my S yet that required me to go to the dealership but my wife just had issues with the transmission on her '07 Si. She took it to a different dealer from where we bought it, was patient like everyone else said, and within the week everything was taken care of. If it is your only transportation, they may give you a loaner until they finish if you ask.
I haven't had any luck with any dealerships with getting my top replaced. I have taken copies of this TSB into the dealership with me and they say "this doesn't affect your VIN". I politely tell them it does since mine is an 05 and they tell me they'll get back in touch with me and never do.

I was very calm with the man I spoke to the other day. He said if he didnt call me by tuesday to give him a call. Im just hoping all will work out well.
well if it doesn't work out, I'm going to be replacing mine in august with the help of a friend, if you want you can swing by and we can try to do two. I'll either be in Cayce or Southern Columbia (close to the ang base).
