Well trickturn, I my glad I was bale to be of some assistance to you. I agree with everyone else, by 02' all the bugs were worked out. When we are speakign of bugs, we are not talking abotu big problems that really affect anything. The clutch buzz, in 00' and 01' can be fixed. The actual problem dosent affect anything, just when you dowshift and are coming to a stop or if you let off the gas then around 3-5K is when you will hear it the most. I had an 01' and at first it bothered me till I found out that it wasnt a problem, then I got used to it. The only thing that really got on my nerves was the noise top. The striker plates are really soft and wear out prematurly. When this happenes the top can't close as tight as it nees and you get wind noise from the top of the windsheild.

As it sits right now, when I start looking for another S it will be an 03'. Im a AP1 whore though, and since the 03' was the last year of them all problems and upgrades had been completed!!

If you want to go AP1, I would get an '03. I saw in last month's Consumer Reports that the MY02 S2000's have some engine issues, whereas the MY03 don't. Plus, I have an MY02 and have had oil usage issues along with an annoying engine clicking noise ever since I've owned it.

But it's nice to know that you can rev up to 9,000RPMs, even if you don't do it often...

I thought oil useage was a common occurance in all S2K's? I thought it stemmed from Vtec ingauging, or what not. My 01 used about 1qt every 4-5K miles.

Generally, the later year you drive the less oil you burn. My 04 doesn't burn any oil, but Mulder states his earlier S doesn't burn any either, fwiw, ymmv.

Can you describe the noise in detail?

Definately excessive oil usage there. Time for Krank Vents?

I've burned less than 1/2qt of Mobil 1 in about 1500 miles and 3 autocrosses (actually, hasnt burned any in the past month or so and 2 autocrosses).
