Remembering September 11th. Your thoughts?
When I was in college, I had a g/f from Jersey City. Her father was able to arrange for her and I to get a tour of the WTC by the complex safety director. We were on the 100th floor before it had been rented out so the entire floor was wide open, just the elevator and restrooms (not sure which tower). I can't count how many times I've thought back on that day, not able to imagine what the occupants must have experienced years later in those towers.

I was in an installation First Sergeant meeting on Fort Bragg when a senior official interupted the meeting to say a plan had just struck the world trade center. We all kind of laughed like what the hell is he talking about. We were of course thinking that a private cessna or similiar plane had clipped one of the towers.
Shit got real when he came back in and said a second COMMERCIAL airliner had hit the other tower. At that point it was pucker factor time. I and another First Sergeant hauled ass back to the unit area, got stuff stablized and were called to a meeting with the Batallion CSM and other senior NCOs.
We were briefed that we were on standby for deployment immediately and we should pack our shit and be ready to load out at a moments notice. I was also briefed that I and some other people needed to come up with a barrier placement plan for the installation and to start communication with other agencies on Bragg to get and move texas freeway barriers to all ACP on Bragg.
All in all that day is burned into my memory along with alot of others over the past 8 years. What a ****ed up deal. I will never forget what they did to us that day. It will NEVER be over.

I was in a job interview in Cincinnati at 7am that morning. When I finished the interview, my host told me I might hear some shocking stuff on the radio on my way home. Was all I could do to keep from running off he road. And I sat, spellbound, in front of the TV 3-piece suit and tie for hours the rest of that morning.
My best friend was staying in the hotel at the base of the towers. His story is far more interesing and scary than mine.
