Default S2000 Turbo

Well with 3 months left in Iraq I am closer to coming home. I have been looking at either selling the turbo kit on my car or selling the car and starting all over with a 2004- 2005 model. I want at least 500 hp if not 600 hp the only problem is I would have to sell almost all the parts off my car to make it have that type of power. Plus I wanted to add some of the parts from the 2004-2007 models such as headlights, door panels, and new convertible top with a glass window. This means selling off the Turbo kit, clutch and Comptech Differential, plus the other parts I trade out.

Option #1 is to keep my car and spend around $15000 + what I receive from the parts I sell to get the car in the condition I want.

Option # 2 is to sell my car and buy a 2004-2005 model then spends $15000 or so to build the motor and turbo charge it.

Option # 3 is to buy a 3rd Gen Turbo Supra that will easily get me the amount of power I want, if not more depending on how much I spend.

Other Option maybe an M3- I would have to turbo charge it at some point. This option would get too costly.

What do you guys think?

I don't know anything about turbos, but these two options don't REALLY look that different:

"Option #1 is to keep my car and spend around $15000 + what I receive from the parts I sell to get the car in the condition I want.

Option # 2 is to sell my car and buy a 2004-2005 model then spends $15000 or so to build the motor and turbo charge it."

it's either the hassle of parting the car, or the hassle of parting (I assume) and selling the car, then buying a new one?

The conversion for the convertible top has a DIY up on the site and I'm sure other members could assist with the other conversions (headlight + door panels).

Honestly if you are wanting lots of horse power I don't think the S is the car for you. Get a Supra and you won't have to stop at 600 horses.

2JZ-GTE + 15000 = more like 1000 HP

I know a fair amount about turbo's, specifically with this car. From experience I can easily tell you that wanting that kind of power is going to require not only the $15,000, but also a ton of headaches and aggravation if you want your car to run like stock again. Also with 600whp you are going to start breaking a lot of things. With a built bottom end you can have a bomb proof motor, but then you will start breaking axles, diffs, and then transmissions. A boosted s2k is a blast to drive, but it takes a lot of time and money to get it running the right way. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, but if 600whp is your target then maybe you should look for a different platform (evo9 or supra would be good choices). Also with that much power traction will be a thing of the past, there is no way that you need that much power on the street IMO.

Ya dude. I agree. Even if you did have that much hp and could use it safely, there just isnt enough street. I drove a 300 whp elise and i could never get out of 2nd gear without running into someone.

a 600whp street car is pretty intense... a car that is built to withstand that kind of power is not going to be the same car anymore, like someone else was saying above^ reliability is going to be a big issue. not only will it bring constant headaches with all the "little" things that could potentially go wrong but honestly that is hardly going to be a street car anymore... but more power to you if you've got the funds to make it happen, would be a blast to have thats for sure just a lot of little things that you have to factor in IMHO. but to answer your question, I would say that since you already have the S2K why not just keep it instead of going through the hassle(s)... hope this helps

I thank everyone for their input. I know it's going to be hard work getting the car to run the way I want it to. I have time to figure out which way to go still. It should be fun either way.

I just can't wait to get home finally.

I love my supra and there is a certain respect from everyone that you get with a supra you dont get with any car(from the outside world). If you do decide to get a supra build the engine even though its really not necessary, its the only way to ensure if one of those "small things" go wrong you wont have to replace a engine. The stock bottom block is one of a kind and can hold over 1200 horsepower on the stock bottom end. The head needs tweaking however. I researched supras as i have always always loved them for a long time. Take a look on SupraForums.com and research. The S2000 has advantages the supra doesnt. Weight being the biggest. The supra is no S2000 in the corners and in fact is very very tailhappy. Its a car you must respect because lack of respect will cost you lots of money.

I made the jump from s2000 to supra and would do it over again if i had to. I plan in the next 5 to 10 years to buy another Supra TT.

Its your call but they are both great cars. I Love Both and hope to own both later on in the future.
