I freakin' had to do a double take when I saw that. I don't care what is done to that car, in no way is it worth that much money. Even if it had 1 mile on it. Mods =/= increase in value to that degree. And I agree with Jesus about people defending his crazy price. Friggin nutso.

As I look at the cars in our garage i wouldnt trade them for his.
You could easily build a very nice and clean e46 with over 500hp for under $35k.
A very clean used GT-R can be had for very little over his asking price.
Come to think of it, i wouldnt trade my old landrover for it either.

I still think it is a little strange that parts off the car are worth more than parts on the car. To use the 5K of wheels on the 30K car example. What is the price on the car, 32K, maybe 33K, mayber 31K I do not know. Take the same set of wheels(say they are Volks cuz that is a 5K set) sell them alone and you probably get 90% of what you paid for them as long as they are clean and not 5 years old.

People assume that because they like an aftermarket part, the next person will too. Some people may look at Volks and see work to replace them, not their value as a stand alone item.
There's a reason you paint your house beige when you want to sell it - remove the customization and widen the appeal.

^Agreed, when i went shopping for my s2000 i found it bone stock other than an AEM cold air, and only 60k miles. It was a steal for the price i paid, but i didnt want any of the previously modded cars because personally i would rather have a blank slate to do my own thing.
