Default Spark plug recall

Got a recall notice in the mail yesterday from American Honda. They want to replace the spark plugs due to spark plug gaskets coming loose. Is this the same recall that I read about on the board several months ago in Europe having to do with the #4 cylinder sucking the spark plug? Have any of you had compression checks on the #4 cylinder?

No, what started as TSB 02-042 for the spark plugs is not the same as the European recall for the oil bolt. The American recall for the plugs does not include the oil bolt that is part of the Europpean recal. The spark plug recall for the "gasket" could be more correctly described as the crushring on the end of the sparkplug, that is part of the sparkplug.

You can find a boat load of info on these recalls with a few searches.

This one of many threads will get you started.

My S is scheduled for the spark plugs tomorrow(Wednesday)morning at Hendrick Honda. I just stopped by and asked them about scheduling it and they said when can you bring it in and I said anytime. He said how about tomorrow morning. I never thought that it would be that easy!

I had the same experience with Hendrick Honda. I called last night and they said bring it in this morning. It took 45 minutes. Overall a very nice experience compared to what I am used to in dealer service. George

I had a very similar experience with Hendrick Honda. I stopped in for an oil change and for them to look at a couple of warranty items. The service rep was cool about the other work, and even told me about the spark plug recall ... said he'd have that taken care of while I was there.
