The S was bought because of unfortuante circumstances (I made a REALLY poor decision in buying a Prelude, and instead of putting the value of the car back in to fix it, I got rid of it - to make a long story short) and on a whim (went to look at a Jetta, got the S instead) but has always come with ridiculously high payments due to negative equity.

So, the time has come where I'm in a position to get rid of the S or refinance it, and for various reasons (two really) a) not having to rent a truck to move my stuff in about 8 months when I move, plus being able to fit all the "holdiay travel" stuff in my car, which I wasn't able to do last year and b) getting a warranty so that I don't need to use my savings if something were to happen.... I've decided that even though the monthly payment would be the same if I refinanced the S, it's in my best interest to sell the S and drive another car.

I'm actually a lot more broken up about this than I thought I'd be - mainly becuase of the wonderful user community.

My ideal solution would be to keep the S and have the $$ to pay in cash for a daily driver, therefore solving my problem, but that's NOT an option at this point in my life and I had to either keep the S, or get something else.

I'm scheduled to pick up the Fit tomorrow afternoon.

There's a bit more to the story but it all sort of contributes to one thing or the other, so that's the basic jist of it.

Good choice. There will still be S's out there in beautiful shape in a couple years when things are better for you. I'd say, except maybe buying a brand new car, you're doing the right thing.

it's not new - a used 2007, traded in, has 17k on it. i'm not planning on buying a new car in my lifetime as long as there are certified used with less than 20k out there - not all about that depreciation!

have fun on the Dragon this weekend

Katie...keep us posted on the Fit.

I've thought about one of those for a daily driver/beater...SO, I'd be interested in your feedback.
