My Mom has started the process of getting the house ready to sell , hopefully in the next 18 months or so (Dec 2024). We have done a lot of renovations in the past year or so ( new wood floors, new carpet, new primary bathroom, new A/C unit , new pool pump and irrigation pump and new sod in the front year and cleaned up the landscape and tree trimming. The house was replumbed and rewired about 5 years ago.

There only 2 major things that we can think of that should be done (new roof, new driveway) but we’ve had contractors look at them and say that they will past inspection, it’s just cosmetic and should last another 3-5 years.

All appliances are probably around 5 years old so they don’t have to replaced 3 days from now. Mom has kept meticulous records in which people say that’s great.

Mom wants to move to the West Coast / Tampa area to be closer to the grandkids. I really think she needs nothing larger than a 3/2 or maybe 3/3 at the most. She wants to travel more and the less she has to be concerned about the better.

I’ll transfer from where I work and possibly invest in a dog / training facility in that general area.

As fun as it'd be to know someone from Hellhole Palms, vespajoy and I were pleasantly surprised by Palm Desert.

. . . but we all know you're going to the most beautiful city in California. . .

yes Palm Desert is a nice area and we did consider Indio in fact as they are getting some of the good builders down there doing communities but we've nixed it from the list due to the temperatures are typically at minimum 10 degrees higher than we have here

Disney is actually building a HUGE community of homes etc...

Never buy a Disney built home. Look at Celebration, FL. You don’t ‘own’ the homes, you basically lease them for years. From what I recall, if you sell your home, Disney gets a cut of the sale.

I would say so no one is good all the time. I think stuff goes down when the lights go out.

^ The funny part is my son and my sister's children all threw tantrums at Disney, you see many children doing the same thing there, and I kept wondering why kids all cry at the happiest place on earth, lol. I know it is usually related to them being hungry and tired, and overwhelmed, often in the heat and loaded up with candy lol.

That's just false. Disney developed it as a residential area, but they don't own the land. They certainly don't get a cut of any sale. No idea where you got this info from, it's the same as any other master planned community with HOA's etc.
