Jack-

I highly recommend you have your insurance deal with geico instead of you dealing with them directly. Once they cut you a check, their liability is up, and you are stuck with the cheap shop's estimate.

When I was rearended, I got multiple estimates, some places wanted to just repair the broken plastic bumper cover (I would not accept that) m(more money in labor, but less money in parts, would end up costing $50 less for a repaired bumper instead of a replaced cover). I'd tell them you are not comfortable with the work of their shop, and you know one that is reputable and has agreements with all the major insurance companies. The insurance company will work with autobody unlimited and they will probably end up lowering the cost of the work a little bit, but that is standard practice, from what they told me. Glad you're alright.

Nope, dead serious, if I had waited another 3000 miles before changing oil, I'd have avoided all that.

(though I might have been in a different accident).

BTW, I went to the GEICO place and they estimated $1100 or so to fix. Then I went to this other body shop I've been to before to verify this number and it all looks good. I'll have to wait another month before they can start fixing it though (only one or two person working here, and they are always busy I've seen an NSX being fixed there once).

Fender will be replaced. That plastic thing in the wheel well will be replaced, and I asked him to remove the pin stripes too, since I don't particularly like them.

I did change to an oil with a high molybdenum content though, as per Road Rage's recommendation.

Fecking, focking, er!

So sorry to hear/see this, Jack. I know how much your whip means to ya'.

Hope it all comes back fine. Looks like the fender is the only damage, but sometimes the edge of the door or even the hood might crease depending on the hit.

Ugh....

Honestly it doesn't look too bad. The good news is..it is bad enough to warrant a whole new quarter panel so no bondo and the like which is always a plus IMO.

Hell if they can make my car whole and a perfect match with no issues after this ..yours should be cake

holy WTF?!??! when did this happen?!?!

Oh right, parts of the door needs to be fixed too (but this is because I tried opening it )

Hood's fine though.
