  :banghead: :321:
I found out this morning that I got a parking ticket, issued around 6pm last night.
Car was street parked in a legal lot within a block from my condo building, state registration is up to date, city sticker is up to date.
The violation? Abandoned Vehicle.
The car has been parked there a little over two weeks (1/13 - 1/30), and is covered in snow (which is why I haven't really had the motivation to go out much). It was the only car covered in snow on the street though.
Any idea how I should go about contesting this? I have two options, by mail or in person. I think I want to do it by mail, but I have no idea what documents to include. I've been looking online, and I don't even know how the state of Illinois/city of Chicago defines an "abandoned vehicle" (surely not a vehicle that's been parked at the same spot for two weeks or more?
:wicky

It's residential street parking, so it's free.
...
Looks like I'm guilty after all.
A vehicle can be classified as abandoned if it meets one or more of the following criteria:
On a public way in a state of disrepair as to be incapable of being driven in its present condition.
Has not been moved or used for more than seven consecutive days and is apparently deserted.
Has been left on the public way without state registration or a temporary state registration placard for two or more days.
Is a hazardous dilapidated vehicle left in full view of the general public, whether on public or private property.
Abandoned vehicles should be reported by calling the city's request line at 3-1-1.

I guess I can pay the $50 fine and move my car every week from now on.
You guys think I should contest this in person anyway? Not really contest but appeal. I know I would if it's a cellphone bill or something, but the Illinois state government consists of a bunch of assholes.
