Former race fan...
I loved GTP with no $ limits, CART at INDY with big wings, NASCAR with no restricter-plates and big spoilers, and Formula 1 with active suspension. Guess I'm one of the few that doesn't care about the racing as much as just seeing the cars go fast.
Am I the only one that misses those days?

In Ricks 15 year career: Qualified 15 consecutive times, led 429 laps, won from the pole 3 times, became the third driver to win the Indy 500 four times.
Al Unser: Qualified 27 times, (23 times consecutively) led 644 laps, won from the pole in 1970, became the second driver to win four Indy 500's on his 18th Indianapolis 500 race. Al won in 1970, (from the pole) 1971, 1978 and 1987.
AJ Foyt: Qualified 35 consecutive times in a glorious career that started in 1958, led 555 laps, became the first driver to win four Indy 500's on his 20th Indianapolis 500 race. AJ won in 1961, 1964,1967 and 1977.
You really can't compare Rick Mears to the legendary AJ Foyt, but a lot of people would say that Rick Mears was the best oval racer ever.
