Apparently when I was a kid and got busted for doing something wrong my mom would send me to my room...ban me from watching TV...would make me do something she knew (or thought she knew) I would hate.

Whenever she would take something away I would simply say, "that's ok, didn't want to do that anyway." When she would make me go to my room I would say, "good, I was feeling like taking a nap."

Basically, I was as much of a pain in the ass then as I am now...

I don't really remember my parents ever having effective punishment. Of course, since I was an anti-social loser that generally followed the rules, it wasn't like they had a need. The only times I got in trouble I was crying before my parents even opened their mouths.
