I used to be some-what of a salesman, so I hate getting peoples hopes up--but I also just wanna check out the bikes and have time today

Come prepared - shoes, helmet, gloves. Bikes should be a bit of a soft-sell.

I don't have any of thems. I don't wanna buy the gear 'till I have the bike--I guess I'm doing it wrong? Especially if they expect me to ride clipless and I don't know how, yet.

Shoes - I found most places had basic pedals installed on the lower end floor demos.

Are you using the super tight shorts, or the mountain bike style?
I feel a little bit uncomfortable JUST wearing the spandex-style shorts by themselves. Maybe use them as an "under layer" and than basketball shorts over?
