Living in Silicon Valley, people around here have this high-and-mighty belief that they shouldn't be penalized for being early adopters. . . and yet. . . AND YET. . . they are more than ready to whip out their newest gadget as if it were the 9" dong they always wish they had.
. . . add to the 9" dong syndrome the fact that they then go around chiding others (such as myself) about not having a 9" e-dong. Subsequently, they're amazed that I can demonstrate such olde-tyme behavior as using a Thomas Guide or looking things up on a notebook before going somewhere. . . all this while they're trying to get a signal.
So, we've got 9" e-dongs, my caveman behavior. . . and then the gall of these assholes to demand early adoption without repercussions. . . despite the fact that it's the overhead on these exclusive contracts that pay for their salaries. . . because. . . they work in the HIGH TECH INDUSTRY!!!!
Jerkoffs.

Just don't sell me on something I don't need.
What's funny is how I work in engineering. For all intents and purposes you could call me an engineer (of a stripe - I'm really a technician). What amazes my peers though, is my insistence that I only buy technology to solve a problem that I already have.
Then, I do this really wacky thing where I do a cost-benefit analysis on said solution, and see if the solution is really worth it. Now, where the rubber has met the road a couple of times (especially regarding smart phones), was that I had to consider cost of effective implementation.
Last year, the iPhone was going to cost me ~$1100 for effective implementation. It now is going to cost me ~$300 (+monthlies)
The Android phone, on the surface, appears to only set me back unit price + monthlies (which is still annoying), the complete unknown though, is for effective implementation, I may have to do some serious migration. . . and I don't know what the realized cost on that might be.
Or, I can keep my phone, and still show up to work on time.

I don't see the need for a 9" e-dong if all one is going to do with it is masturbate; I already have app for that.
