Sooooo did anyone hear about the Timmy's controversy that erupted yesterday? http://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2009/08/1...arriage023.html
Even though it happened in the US, I don't know if there was much coverage about it. Within a matter of hours (yay interweb), thousands of people here found out and were pissed.

Cher I don't really think one had to do with the other. Wendy's, as we all have, saw a company that looks like it can print money. I was back in the "old-country" these past two weeks and once again marveled at the number of those franchises. Amazing.
I heard the news and was honestly willing to abandon TH for coffee or donuts (doughnuts). I'm not sure not. It's may be a tempest in a tea kettle (Tim's sells really good brewed tea too btw) and it may be the corp BS one would expect from a big corp ownership. "The event's organizer, Christopher Plante, said he was taken aback by the uproar over the issue. "Tim Hortons was approached by one of our advisory board members and simply asked whether they would provide coffee for the event in question and they graciously accepted to do that...." Spineless. It wasn't a move to sponsor or support Gay Marriage, but it was supporting them in a way that any org should hope to be supported and it truly looks like they abandoned them since they were gay.
I'll wait my POV but in the end I'll be quit content, but not happy, if the Tim's corp proves to be discriminatory against people.

So, I'm gettin' to think here. . . how successful would a Tim's in San Francisco? It's a paradox. . .
San Francisco Pro: It's foreign. . . well, to be more semantically correct; non-U.S.
San Francisco Con: It's a chain coffee place, and would be subject to fist-shaking and angry people with hairy armpits outside of the financial district. . .
In the end. . . who cares, I'm going to get a martini at Bix.
