What I don't understand is why Apple doesn't do both AMD and Intel. Bottom line is that the OS and app software is the same on both platforms. My little company, with about 40 or so hardware engineers, can copy reference designs from both companies and stay current. Of course, we're special.

In the server world, we're seeing that AMD is beating Intel in a lot of scenarios. But, of course, as the article says if low-power chips are key to Apple, so be it. Frankly, I think that's admirable. Maybe Apple can make a portable Mac that doesn't burn my testicles. That'd be worth talking about.
I thought AMD is also winning in the power consumption department... (at least that's what they are claiming). Maybe this is just in the server space (i.e., Opteron).

in the consumer market, the core 2 processors appear to be clearly superior to anything and everything AMD currently has to offer (performance, power consumption and thermally).
