Back OT, go with a complete Fiesta 5-speed. Use the existing suspension; just tie the frame to make upper strut mounts. For quick-and-simple, use the steering rack - just mount it in the same relative position - then lock it in a centered position. If you keep the mount points the same as the Fiesta, you'll eliminate bumpsteer issues.

BTW, we did this exact type of install in the back of some Ford EXP's when we were doing development work on the SHO motors. Made for a real sleeper of a test mule - ugly ass car, with the rear windows all blacked out, and this wicked cool noise from the 5-valve V6

Oh, and forget the C-channel junk. Use 3" thin-wall box section - considerably stiffer torsionally.

When you're done, bolt one end down solid to a plate, or the floor. Then load one of the corners on the other end, and measure the twist. A good tube-frame car should be stiffer than 5000 lb per degree of twist. Our Merkur IMSA cars (which later became the Cougars - it was just a rebody) were in the 9000lb/deg. range.
