here are 2 pictures from japan when i went there 2 years ago. went snowboarding at this place called naeba. it was cool... the resort was behind the first range you see in the background.
nothing like snowboarding and seeing the clouds in front of you! (that was awesome... )

Outdoor Research makes some killer "shell" gloves that you can wear over some cozy fleece gloves. EXTREMELY durable and waterproof. Many of my boarding friends wear them and I considered them for skiing as well.
