I'd also recommend going with bib type pants because they tend to be more comfortable AND they do a better job of keeping the snow outta your pants. I'm a huge proponent of wearing a thin "shell" layer and layering insulating fleece or such underneath. Makes the clothing more versatile since, as you get better and fall less you'll likely want less padding and more cooling ability.

Actually, the marshmallow look seems to be all the rage on the mountain. All the boarder chicks have the baggy look goin' on. It's all about a cute hat, I guess...

I agree with Barney on the idea of wearing a number of layers of thinner clothes.

It allows you to match the thickness of your clothing with the conditions .... sometimes it can be particularly warm while you are skiing and you only need a t-shirt and a fleece on ..... This one time (at band camp ) I was skiing in just jeans and a t-shirt because it was so warm
