I almost got one this last year. Went for an S200 instead because it was a) cheaper and b) easier to carry around. I think in the next year or so if I keep taking lots of pics that I will step up to an S30/40 or equivalent.

I paid $450 for it last year (18 months ago). The S30 is discontinued now. The S45, which is the same camera in a 4.5 MP format, can be had for about $450 shipped. Figure another $100 for a 256 meg card and $50 for a spare battery, plus oddities like a case and a decent tripod.

You N6006 will work great - better than mine actually - once you know how to use it That's the great thing about digitals, you can try different methods to get a shot and not be burning money on garbage pictures.

Barney - I almost pulled the trigger on the S230 for its compact size. However, I almost always have my pockets full anyway (wallet, phone, keys) so it'd likely be in my hand anyway. So I took the extra pixels and features of the S30 - And no complaints other than user ineptitude
