Don't get me wrong... I am not blind to the idiots down here. I've been unfortunate enough to meet representatives of the idiot culture in every region of this great land. You have the guidos of the North East, the rednecks of the South, The 'Heartland' folks in the middle, the self-important folks of SoCal and the Hippies in the PacNW. Everywhere you go there is an idiot waiting to demonstrate his/her ability to defy common sense.
Yep, self-important, money and age obsessed, etc. etc. But there are significant demgraphic and real philosophical dfferences nationally.

I'm not worried about it; Olive Garden and Pottery Barn will drag us to a good level of common mediocrity.

If we could just get a Pottery Barn and an Olive Garden here...

We got our first Arby's 2 years ago and the IHOP just opened up last week.

I have everything I never wanted. . . although the 3 artsy-fartsy movie complexes within 10 minutes of my place are a nice plus.

Oh I watch plenty of TV alright.

Yeah, we're lacking in the theater department. We have 2 in town. 1 is a triplex that runs new-releases but it is a dump. The other runs new-releases too, but it is a single theater that has dinner seating in back. It's kinda cool getting to have dinner while you watch a movie. Yes, they serve beer too.

As for any/everything else we want or need, it's either 39 miles north in Virginia Beach/Norfolk or 39 miles east at the OBX.
