which beater should i look into getting.. help.
i was actually thinking like a 91 Civic Si motor... im sure that would fit right in... i jus gotta see the motor first i guess... do you remember if there was alot of room in there wicky? or was it pretty cramped up?
straight exhaust isn't as good as it sounds
exhaust systems are finely tuned, with their complex mandrel bends and specific diameters and lengths, all for reduced backpressure and synchrnoized wave pulses
without a proper exhaust system, you rsk the possibility of severe detonation, and reversion; a backfire is absolute
even with straight pipes, if they aren't of equal length (or timed with the firing order) you'll be pinging and detonating hardcore - your engine won't last for 2kmi under these conditions.
most of NHRA's cars run straight exhaust (with extremely short pipes) but those cars make so much power (8000hp+) that the parasitic losses are minimal. also, with 13% nitromethane mixed with M85 methanol, detonation/pinging is hardly an issue
even cars with straight exhaust systems (F1/CART/hot rods) do have some sort of tuned exhaust system. you can't just cut your pipes and expect to see horsepower gains

Have to agree with Wicky, the K-series motor will reign supreme, it's just a matter of time. The K20A2 from the RSX-S will be like the B18C1, the K20A3 from the Civic Si will be like the B16A, and the almighty K20A(no number designation) from the Integra Type R will reign supreme. Also, the K24A from TSX, Accord, CRV will replace B20's. As you may/may not be able to tell, I am a big fan of the K-series motor and know it's potential.
As for your Accord beanolo, Get a JDM ZC motor. It's a D16 and puts out maybe 110-120 HP. Also, I have heard of someone putting a B16 in an '82 Accord, so there is hope.
