I thought that was Coalinga (about an hour south). . .

FWIW - CA-25 is the best road for the S. . . hug the San Andreas for 70 traffic free miles.

It's steam injection for enhanced crude oil recovery. It makes the really heavy, crappy crude more viscous, allowing it to be pumped from difficult geologic formations. They do it a lot in the San Joaquin Valley. They shouldn't be doing that shit near downtown LA.
