I have regular contact with thousands of people on a regular basis, and for that last 10 months I knew of no person who contracted Covid19. In the last 2 weeks I know of two people who contracted the virus, sadly one of them passed away on New Year's eve, he was 51 years old and he had been on a ventilator for one week, very sad. It's starting to hit home now.

Given what we know now, there’s a much more real possibility I had it in December (2019), and my wife had it February. My wife’s grandmother apparently tested positive earlier this year, but at 94 (?), she was asymptomatic. Several of my wife’s acquaintances from high school got it: her hometown was lousy with it in the middle of the year (20% positivity rate).

The entire state of WI was awful about it. And still is. Just took time to catch up.

I would love to know about ourselves, my entire family was sick in February, we don't know if we've had it already or not, there is a chance we did. That was an easy time to have caught it as no restrictions were in place and we were out living normal lives at that time.

In mid-February we travelled back to Ontario and Chicago via Vancouver. At that time I remember there were cases in Vancouver, Toronto and Chicago but we were fine. Active cases in our health authority have skyrocketed - people here have kind of been slacking with restrictions (there were obviously parties happening on Christmas eve and NYE). I think most people around here felt we were at low risk because of our population density, but that's changed. Every school in town has had exposure incidents and I know more and more people who are having to self-isolate because of exposure. This afternoon the province will announce our latest numbers and it's probably pretty grim.

There will be a New Year's spike, many people ignored the warnings and couldn't resist gathering.

I made a comment a while back that the spread of the virus in the U.S. was almost impossible to control. When the virus first hit North America I told my wife this, simply because there are large groups of people who don't want to listen to authority/government. That is a big difference between the U.S. and other countries. I know they exist to some extent in every country but it is much more widespread in the U.S.
