If you whilst on facebook, should you share that too? 21st century smell-o-vision?

 

If you do use social media though, be sure your device gives no access to the microphone from the app. While it seems great to just be able to speak out a post rather than type, it WILL listen to you when you do not expect. Same for your browser. I have seen this first hand and really makes you think. Asked a coworker if they had tried Rockit apples. They had not heard of them. They then not only started seeing ads for them when on social media within hours, when they went to google next and typed R in the search, the first autofill was Rockit Apples. I honestly think these well accepted apps are some of the most sketchy ones out there with your data. Just turns me off even more to it! If you have an antivirus program that sends out data breach warnings, read them. They now list them categorized by DAY since it is such a regular occurrence for this to happen to companies. Going to start shopping for furniture that will look nice in my cave one day :P

 

Around Christmas time a girlfriend of mine was talking a lot about a few very specific things she wanted from her boyfriend and all of a sudden she started getting ads for those things on instagram, facebook and her browser. I get that some people find this "personalization" helpful - I just find it creepy.
