My issues are upfront cost for a car of it's age and rust. They're notorious for rust issues...and I'm not sure how well they do in a damp climate like the PacNW...?

Hmmmmm...

What are you looking for in a car? Are you picky about how many seats it has?

I would think it would be awesome if you picked up an old mini, but rust would scare me away!

Take the best aspects of every car I listed thus far...shove it into a single package. THAT is what I'm looking for.

Seriously, I'm looking for all sorts of things. I'm ok with compromises. I'll make whatever I get do whatever I need it to do. What I love in a car is light weight, fun driving dynamics and enough consistent utility that I can fit enough in the car for me to go away for a few days on a vacation (ie...a smallish suitcase or a couple duffel bags). I like smaller cars...hence the Miata. I don't like a car to be any heavier than it needs to be to do what it needs to do. I like luxury, but don't need it. I also like simplicity.

Some reasonable level of reliability is good, too.

As I said, i love the old Mini (far more than the current one), but am turned off by the relatively high price and the rust issue. I need to look into their reliability as a daily (only) driver. One in good shape could be a winner, though.

As for seats...at least one is good. Anything more is gravy. I seldom ever have a passenger...
