Found a couple of contenders online but I'm not sure if my apparently fat ass will fit into their XL and I don't want to deal with returns. Might just wait until I'm in the city next time and go to their factory store.

My experience has been that most of the water resistant stuff tends to be heavier, and the lightweight tends to be "quick drying".

 

That's the same dilemma I've had. For now the LTs (second link) would work well and then get something like the first link for next winter.

For the amount of use I'll get out of them I'm willing to pay. I kinda see them more as "equipment" than "clothes."

 

I need something more functional for hiking. Something that will keep me relatively dry, but is still breathable and something that fully covers my legs so they don't get scratched to shit in the forest.
