I'm a whole man again!
Just for the 36 month service and also, after 3 years the car has to go through a government approved test (a way for them to tax you again for owning a car
) and also there is a clicking sound coming from the rear axle, which they are looking at ......

Got it.
Do you have yearly inspections in JP, James. Here we do, where every other year they do an emissions test. The cost is low though, $30 or so. I imagine the 3 year thing you're talking about, James, is rather expensive, eh?
What also sucks... Is your warrantee in JP the same as ours (3 years)??? What if you have a problem with that inspection.. Sheesh, you'll have to pay!

You get 3 years with no inspection, then you have to have it inspected every 2 years after that (not annually). Government inspection fee is about US$500
, and the garage add on another few hundred to get the car ready for the inspection.
I have just taken an extended warranty on the car .... at a cost of US$100 for 2 years it sounded too good to pass up .....

I agree ... that's why I said it is just another tax on car ownership .... and wait for this ..... once your car is over 10 years old ..... you have to have this inspection EVERY year ...... now you know why people don't keep cars for that long in Japan ....
